Strata Florida green lane is one of the most well know and popular byways in Wales, Strata Florida offers a technical route with some very challenging sections.

This route is well defined and following a Tread Lightly campaign and volunteers signposting the green lane several years ago, should be easy to follow. The route goes through the heart of the Cambrian Mountains between Pontrhydfendigaid and Abergwesyn.

If you have some spare time then it’s worth a visit to the nearby Strata Florida Abbey More>>

Driving this route should only be attempted in a well prepared vehicle with an experienced driver and it is not recommended that this byway is driven unaccompanied. The route should not be attempted after heavy rain as river crossings can involve a high level of risk and safety should be paramount. I recommend the use of a professional guide with extensive local knowledge.

There is some evidence of illegal activity on some of the sections. Please stick to the legal route.
