Start beside the Elan Valley and journey north through the wild heart of Mid Wales on a 76-mile self-guided 4×4 adventure through the Cambrian Mountains.

CM26-001 combines remote green lanes, mountain roads, historic mining country, technical driving sections and huge upland views before reaching Nant-y-Moch and continuing towards a memorable finish beneath Cader Idris.

This isn’t simply a GPX route. Adventure Pack No. 002 gives you the navigation, roadbook, local knowledge and supporting information to turn the route into a complete day’s adventure.

THE ADVENTURE

Adventure 002 is about the journey. Beginning in the Elan Valley, the route heads north through the Cambrian Mountains before reaching the dramatic landscape around Cader Idris.

Unlike Adventure 001’s circular format, CM26-001 is a true point-to-point expedition. The changing landscape gives the day a sense of progression: leaving the reservoirs and uplands of the Elan Valley behind and finishing beneath one of Wales’s most recognisable mountains.

Expect remote country, long views, quiet mountain roads and green-lane driving. The final destination is within the wider area associated with the Mach Loop. Military flying is never guaranteed, so any aircraft seen should be treated as a bonus rather than part of the product promise.

WHO IS ADVENTURE 002 FOR?

Adventure 002 is rated Level 3 and is intended for drivers with some previous green-lane experience. Expect uneven and rocky surfaces, inclines, lateral sections, water where conditions permit, gates and sections where careful wheel placement may be required. Conditions can change considerably following prolonged rain or adverse weather.

IS MY 4×4 SUITABLE?

CM26-001 is intended for a capable, road-legal 4×4 with suitable all-terrain tyres, good ground clearance and low range. Typical suitable vehicles include Land Rover Defender, INEOS Grenadier and Toyota Land Cruiser, together with suitably prepared Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger and Isuzu D-Max. Vehicle suitability remains the driver’s responsibility.
